PAT is part of the BEE-initiated National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency, which intends to enhance energy efficiency in the country, and is aimed at large energy-intensive industries and facilities
Under the PAT scheme, 478 industrial units across the country have been given targets for reducing energy consumption. The companies that better their targets will be allowed to sell energy-saving credits ECERTs to those failing to achieve the required cuts. Above Market-based approaches shall unlock energy efficiency opportunities, estimated to be about 6.686 mmtoe at the end of present PAT Cycle (April 2012 – March 2015)
The Sectoral distribution of DCs are as follows;
List of DCs
Annual Energy Consumption Norm to be DC (mtoe)
No. of Identified DC’s
Pulp & Paper
Iron & Steel
PCRA looks ahead big role in it and doing all out efforts to be a partner in harnessing this opportunity. We have approached all 478 industries to provide PAT related efficiency services. The results are very encouraging.
On 24th August 2009 PM’s council on Climate Change approves NMEEE (National mission on enhanced energy efficiency) in principle. Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) a result of the National Mission on Enhance Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) is an ambitious project of GOI given its scale, complexities, timelines and absence of precedence.
For the implementation of NMEEE amendment was made to EC Act, 2001 which was passed in parliament in 2011.
NMEEE has four New Initiatives, these are as follows:
1. MTEE (Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency) 2. FEEED (Framework for Energy Efficient Economic Development 3. EEFP (Energy Efficiency Financing Platform 4. PAT (Perform, Achieve & Trade)
