The
second Seminar in the series “Setting fuel efficiency
standards and labeling of transport vehicles”
is scheduled for 6/7th December, 2007 at Chennai in
association with BEE. Introducing Fuel Efficiency Standards
in India would be a new experience, it was thought prudent
to invite International experts from Asia, North America,
Europe, China, Japan and other leading countries, who
have demonstrated this concept successfully. PCRA has
involved organizations like ICCT, ICET, IEA, ICF, etc
along with key local agencies and experts to give the
event true international flavour. Indian overview shall
be shared by SIAM and its member organizations, ARAI,
NATRiP, IOC and other national bodies of repute.
Further, proposed tasks include:

To Develop baseline
study and scenario analysis for vehicle efficiency,
fuel use, and greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles
in India.

Identification
of the approaches to the Fuel Efficiency standards
for Indian conditions taking into account, the current
approaches in Indian scenario.

Phased approach
of Developing and implementation of these standards
within a time frame.
