The objective of the MDP project is to develop model depots
where fuel/ lube conservation measures are effectively implemented
with PCRA assistance and sustained by the depot manager at
the attainable performance level. The measures thus introduced
in model depots can be emulated by other STUs as well as fleet
operators in the unorganized sector.
Depots with substantial scope for improvements in fuel/lubricants
consumption are chosen to be converted into model depots.
Annual performance statistics for all vehicles in the depot
are critically analyzed for fuel/ oil consumption, age of
the vehicle, allotment of drivers, major overhauls, etc. The
result of the analysis thus made is presented to the depot
management.
On a macro level, the depot study includes evaluation of
fuelling practices, maintenance system and practices, calibration
of testing equipment, training & management information
& control systems, driving habits etc., Based on the findings,
a report with detailed savings possible with cost benefit
analysis is presented and recommendations made. A follow up
is made to help depot management in implementation of the
recommendation. |
