In this sector the inter ministerial working group has identified a saving potential of 20%. The major thrust areas of activities in this sector include Driver Training Program, Model Depot Projects, Model Garages, Emission Check Program, engine replacement schemes and mass awareness program.

Besides, PCRA also promotes high performance lube oils thereby propagating awareness on lube oils. The annual recurring saving in transport sector due to PCRA efforts leads to substantial savings.

The various awards instituted by PCRA to motivate drivers and other state transport agencies to achieve maximum fuel efficiency includes best kilometer per liter achieved for State Transport Undertaking. PCRA networks with a large number of organizations viz. ASRTU, STU AIAM, ARAI, CRRI, MOST, Traffic Police, NGOs and automobile associations for propagating awareness on efficient utilization of petroleum products in the transport sector.
