Industrial Cluster Development Program of PCRA

PCRA, for the purpose of infusing energy efficiency, has divided industries in two portions depending on their financial and technical resources.
  • Large Industries have all resources to introduce the best technology available when they are sure about the benefits.
  • Micro, Small & Medium enterprises; do not have all resources and there fore handicap.
PCRA pans to Sensitize large Industries by conducting Energy audits and leaving them to implement recommendations on their own. Where as, it has developed a comprehensive “Cluster Development Program”.
PCRA and MSME are joining hands for spreading message of conservation and improving global competitiveness of the industries by doing concerted effort in industrial clusters and implementing energy audit recommendation for demonstration purpose. This program aims to improve energy efficiency in entire cluster by developing demonstration units in each industrial. These demonstration units will highlight the benefits of adopting energy efficiency program and emphasizing its effect on the bottom line of units.
Under this program 300 units in 30 clusters (@ 10 units per cluster) to be taken up for demonstration in the first year.
Demonstration units (Beneficiary industry) have to contribute a minimum 25 % to 50 % of the hardware cost depending on the size of unit it as per details given below:
  • Industries in Micro & Small Sectors : min 25 %
  • Industries in Medium Sector : min 50 %
PCRA and MSME will bear the remaining hard ware cost and entire soft ware cost i.e. cost of energy audit, design etc.
  • Identification of Cluster will be done jointly by SSI & PCRA through Advertisements, Industrial Associations, Seminar, and Personal Contacts etc.
  • Identification of Units to be done by implementing agencies.
  • “Screening Committee” of PCRA will award projects to “Implementing agencies”.
  • PCRA & SSI will organize joint “Awareness Programs” for dissemination of the findings

List of Industrial Clusters and Implementing Agencies

During the first year selection of 30 clusters will be done preferably from the following sectors. Major clusters and technically competent agencies have been enumerated under each sector. Other implementing agencies not included here can also be considered.
