| Executive summary |

A leading company at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, is engaged
in the manufacture of various blends of yarn of Polyester,
viscose and cotton. There are 3 nos. production units viz.
Unit-I, Unit-II and The company Exports known as Unit-III.
Electricity and fuel oil are the main sources of energy.
1.5 lakh KWH are consumed in the factory on a daily basis
. Almost 99% of the electricity demand of the factory is met
by internal generation through DG sets. MPWB power supply
is used only sparingly at about 54000 KWH per month (The MPEB
power supply is mainly used when the DG sets are under annual
Maintenances).
A comprehensive energy conservation study of the plant was
carried out by PCRA to identify potential areas of energy
conservation and recommend energy savings measures along with
cost benefit analysis. PCRA’s audit finding highlights
potential savings of Rs.103.82 lacs at and investment of Rs.
182.63 lacs from 12 proposals, covering the following areas. |
