These studies are conducted in industries having annual fuel oil consumption between 250 and 1000 KL. In these studies the existing fuel oil utilization practices are studied and area of fuel oil savings are identified through short, medium and long-term recommendations. The selection of the industries where this study is to be carried out is done by CRCS in consultation with the engineers of their regions.

This study covers various aspects of fuel oil utilization such as steam utilization in case of boilers, waste heat recovery/excess air control in control of boilers/furnaces etc. An overall cost benefit analysis towards savings possible versus investments required to implement PCRA's recommendations is also provided.
