| Objective |
The main objective of this scheme is to demonstrate to the
farmers the savings accruable through:
- The use of efficient pumping system including engine and
pumping system auxiliaries. As each of the demonstration
centers on efficient pump system conform to BIS-specifications
and one locally available inefficient pump system of same
rating (both complete in all respects and including foot
valve, suction and discharge pipes, pump and diesel engine
along with the proper base) are installed side by side to
give a practical demonstration to the farmers on the savings
possible through the adoption of efficient pump system.
Demonstration centers are being set up by PCRA in each of
the State having large number of diesel LIP.
- Based on the studies conducted by various agencies, it
has been established that savings of about 30-50 % can be
achieved in terms of fuel consumption if efficient foot
valves, suction/discharge pipes and proper matching pumpsets
with the diesel engines etc. are used. Because of the fact
that the operating efficiency of most of the pumpsets in
the country is lower, the concept of promoting the use of
efficient pumping system is given due importance. During
the studies, it has been observed that farmers are required
to be motivated by showing them live demonstrations of the
actual saving resulting due to the use of efficient pumping
systems including their auxiliaries.
